So, I don't know how many people actually read this, but I guess I will post a few photos and commentary. One of my lovely sisters put me on Instagram a few weeks ago (private, of course, so you have to send a request to elizatannerhawkins to see things). Since that is even easier than doing a blog, I now share some photos there as well.
We went hiking up Rock Canyon a few weeks ago and it snowed on us. Henry said of the photo: "Me in the mountains." Henry loves hiking up in the mountains. He asks to go hiking all the time. He also wants me to buy him a live dinosaur.
Andrew got his Arrow of Light (and his Webelos a few months ago) and moved on to 11-year-old Scouts. He worked hard on everything in Cub Scouts.
On our way to Arizona for Lamar and Emily's wedding, we stopped and did a hike out to the "Toadstools." This was a fun hike, located between Kanab and Page. Thankfully, the photo doesn't show Henry and Andrew being sick on the trip and throwing up multiple times.
The kids loved Riverside Park in Mesa, especially since it had some of the fun equipment like the parks in Vienna.
They also loved playing with Mango, Mindy and Rob's bird.
They were mostly happy at the wedding, although they complained to no end about the heat. I guess they are Utah kids and not used to heat.
Even Kirk's father enjoyed playing with Mango.
Mindy and Rob were nice enough to put on a dinner and birthday party for Kirk's family while we were in Arizona.
Andrew had a spectacular cake. He was so happy.
When we were back in Utah, Andrew had a friend birthday party where we did fun stuff like make "elephant toothpaste" and other sciency things.
General Conference and Easter made for a busy weekend. The children still had fun with a small Easter egg hunt between conference sessions on Sunday.
Last week we went for an overnight trip to Coral Pink Sand Dunes in southern Utah (near Kanab). We put up our new tent and it broke. Thankfully, it had a repair thing so we could still use the tent overnight. However, we will be taking the tent back when we have a few hours to drive to Salt Lake.
Here some of us are on the top of the biggest sand dune, Star Dune, in Coral Pink Sand Dunes.
There was sand everywhere and the kids just sat around playing in it all the time.
Since we weren't in a hurry, we made a very nice dinner of turkey breast with vegetables.
We had apple crisp for dessert.
And, we had homemade Lion House rolls bake in the dutch oven.
The next day we spent more time playing in the Sand Dunes.
There was a bit of damp sand, and the kids dug in that as well.
Henry said: "This is me digging in the sand dunes." He drew this picture in his journal on Sunday.
