Random thought on fashion
This week the headline of a NYT article on fashion happened to catch my eye. I don't normally read fashion articles, but this one said something about "New 2012 makeup fashion: The 'just rolled out of bed' look." Since I had just gone to an early-morning aerobics class where I saw about 50 women who had "just rolled out of bed," including the instructor, and since I take the kids to school every morning while I'm wearing my sweats and see lots of women who have pulled on whatever clothes they have in order to drive or walk their children to school, not to mention our cheery neighbor who puts her coat over her brilliant pink pajamas, I consider myself somewhat an expert on women and the "just rolled out of bed" look. Oh good, I thought, we will all be fashionable. However, as I skimmed the article and glanced at the photos, I realized that it was just a lie. They were promoting looks that can be obtained if you spend hundreds of dollars getting your face and hair done, not to mention the thousands of dollars spent on clothes. Well, I suppose we will continue our non-fashionable trends here in the western United States. P.S. I actually got some makeup on several days this week, though it was closer to lunchtime than to breakfast.

Lucy baby doll
When Lucy was a baby we bought her a pretty Madame Alexander baby doll for Christmas.
Four years later, I sent my own Madame Alexander baby doll (from when I was a toddler) off to the doll hospital to get new hair. It came back all fixed, and we then gave it to Lucy for Christmas this year.
Isn't it funny how the dolls look like Lucy?

A few numbers
Here are a few numbers I've collected lately:
- 15 loads of laundry in 4 days
- 8 doctor appointments in 3 weeks
- 1,500 (or so) little Legos and other toy pieces received in 1 Christmas morning
- 16 degrees outside during 1 week of walking kids to school
- 9 stoplights within 1.5 miles of driving
- 3 new accounting programs tried; 2 discarded, 1 on probation
- 6 sets of pajamas sewn
- 4 cute kids
