We've been busy. I think we spent all of April and May at the doctor's office with sick kids (at least we have medical insurance). Here are a few highlights from May and June.

Lucy had a birthday and turned 3. I made this dress for her.

She had a pink flower cake (carrot cake with cream cheese frosting sprayed pink).

The flowers looked great, but only those with the strongest constitutions (i.e. Andrew) could actually eat all the frosting in one sitting.

I also made some fun sugar cookies with brilliantly-colored frosting. The children loved them and they didn't taste too bad, either.

Andrew finished first grade. He liked his teacher, Mrs. Stewart. He likes school, but doesn't care for homework, busywork, getting up in the morning, following instructions unless they coincide with what he wants to do, and so on. He enjoys playing and computer time. He is also fearless and loves to speak out. At the Bean Museum recently, the employee asked the children if they knew where Indonesia was. Andrew piped up and said, "That's where Krakatoa was!" I think the reference was lost on the employee.

We have enjoyed the cool weather and rain. Our yard is looking better. Here is a photo of one of Grandma Wessman's peony bushes. We got a clump of bulbs from her yard and it happened to have a peony in it. This year, the peony just went to town.

The photos don't do it justice, of course.

Happy Henry is 7 months old and still putting on weight. (Kirk is wearing his painting shirt in this photo.) Henry is about 19-1/2 lbs. at last check. We started giving him some tastes of regular food, which he promptly spit out or threw up. Well, the only food he didn't spit out on first taste was a bit of the steak we grilled on Friday. He also liked the crumb of homemade bread.
Thanks for the update and the cute photos! I haven't seen a photo of Henry in a while--he's really growing up! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely job on the dress and cake for Lucy!
Thanks for the clarification about Kirk's shirt;-) I thought Kirk looked a little too happy to have spit up all over his shirt! Lucy's dress is beautiful and she looks delighted with the color choice!
ReplyDeleteWhat nice pictures! Thanks for the update! Looking forward to seeing you!
